(SOUNDBITE) (Italian) JUVENTUS COACH, MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI, SAYING: "It would have seemed strange to me that Cristiano Ronaldo had finished the Champions League by scoring just one goal.

Tonight he played a great game and scored because he was inside the penalty area.

Players have played well in building the game.

It was a great game, the crowd was wonderful and pushed the team and the players gave all the football lovers in Italy a night of good football.

This is the most important thing." 2.

(SOUNDBITE) (Italian) JUVENTUS COACH, MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI, SAYING: "Juventus is not the favourite, Juventus is one of the pretenders to try to win the Champions League.

It is our goal, as it always has been, neither more nor less.

If we had been eliminated after such a performance it would not have been a failure.

I repeat it even today after our victory: Juventus must play the Champions League every year.

If you do not pass the last 16 it is impossible to win the Champions League, this is clear.

It's a very simple concept, you don't have to study at Harvard to understand this concept.

It's simple: if you pass the round, you have the chance to win the Champions League, otherwise you go home and play the Europa League or watch the other teams play.

There are no alternatives.

" STORY: Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri praised his team's performance after they beat Atletico Madrid 3-0 on Tuesday (March 12) to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Allegri was worried his side could lose their cool as they trailed 2-0 from the first leg but his fears were unfounded.

His opposite number Diego Simeone, who had set his team up to defend their lead, had no complaints about the result.

Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed a hat-trick and also earned the praise of his coach.

Ronaldo blasted home the decisive goal from a penalty with four minutes left to seal a 3-2 overall triumph having made the breakthrough in the 27th minute and levelled the aggregate score three minutes after halftime with another towering header.

It was his eighth hat-trick in the Champions League, pulling him level with Barcelona's Lionel Messi, and took the Portugal international's tally in his favourite club competition, where he is the all-time leading scorer, to 124.
