ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION.

New Zealand international rugby player Sonny Bill Williams has sent his sympathies to those affected by the Christchurch mosque shootings, which has left at least 49 people dead.

Williams, 33, who has won 51 All Blacks caps after switching codes from league to union, paid an emotional tribute to the victims and their families after Friday's (March 15) shootings in the city on New Zealand's south island.

He converted to Islam in 2009 and is the first Muslim to play for the All Blacks.

Williams spent time in Christchurch in 2011 when he played for Super Rugby team, Crusaders, and currently plays for the Auckland Blues.
