FIXES TYPO IN EARLIER HEADLINE- 'ATTACKED' TO 'ATTACK') New Zealand Governor-General, Dame Patsy Reddy said on Tuesday (March 19) that the Christchurch mosque shootings have changed the country, adding it is a mark New Zealanders will never forget.

Speaking from a memorial in Christchurch, Reddy said the attack made the country stronger and more determined to be united in the future.

"It's a mark that we will never forget, we will never forget these people, we will never forget the day," she said.

Australian Brenton Tarrant, a suspected white supremacist, was charged with murder on Saturday (March 16) and was due back in court on April 5 where police said he was likely to face more charges.

Fifty people were killed in Friday's (March 15) attack at at two mosques with dozens more wounded, which Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had labelled as terrorism.
