Jordan Peele, Lupita Nyong’o and the cast of "Us" hit the red carpet in New York
MUSIC NOT CLEARED FOR BROADCAST USE ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Jordan Peele, the Oscar winner writer of the hit 2017 film "Get Out" is back to scare audiences with his new horror movie "Us." The heart of the film is about an American family pursuing their dreams - but challenges that come from within.
The film centers around Luptia Nyongo'o's character, who experiences a trauma as a child, which comes back to haunt her as an adult as an entire family.
Peele said he is normally inspired by things that scare him and it was the thought of seeing the duplicate of himself that sparked both fear inside himself and the concept for the movie.
"I think that horror has gotten a bad rap.
You know, people, people tend to think in terms of like boxes, genres a box, and sometimes you think like - I've seen some horror films that aren't really for me or this type of horror film.
Horror has a wide spectrum," said Peele.
"Us" will be released in U.S. theaters on March 22.
