NATS: "Think about how far we've come." Jeremy Richman spent years trying to raise awareness about mental health after his own daughter Avielle was killed in the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Now he himself has died...of an apparent suicide.
His body was found on Monday.
Just last week, Richman, a neuroscientist spoke about the foundation he and his wife created in their daughter's honor that focuses on preventing violence by funding brain research.
SOUNDBITE: JEREMY RICHMAN, VICTIM'S FATHER, SAYING: "As you can imagine that turned your world around quite a bit and you feel like the world is just spinning out of control and you are going to get spun off if you do not do something." Richman's death comes only days after two students who survived last year's Parkland rampage also died by apparent suicide.
