Red Cross To Start Delivering Humanitarian Aid To Venezuela

On Friday,聽 the Red Cross 聽said that it will start delivering relief for Venezuela's long-running humanitarian crisis after negotiating access between political rivals President Nicol谩s Maduro and opposition leader Juan Guaid贸.

The Red Cross aims to deliver the aid to 650,000 people within the next month, according to International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies president Francesco Rocca.聽 Part of the reason Venezuela's humanitarian crisis has dragged on for so long and affected so many people is because relief distribution has been used to score political points by both Maduro and Guaid贸.

The Red Cross said that its efforts in Venezuela will not be affiliated with any political party, but opposition leader Guaid贸 has already attempted to take credit.

He聽 tweeted : "The world knows it: this victory is thanks to the mobilization of the people of Venezuela." Maduro has not yet commented.
