Former Fox News Personality Named New State Department Spokesperson
Former Fox News contributor Morgan Ortagus will become the new spokesperson for the US State Department.
According to SF Gate, Ortagus was featured as a contributor on Fox News until as early as last month.
Ortagus is the second Fox News personality to fill the role since Donald Trump was elected president in 2016.
The job was previously held by Heather Nauert who left Fox News to take the position in April 2017.
Nauret left the spokesperson position following Trump's announcement that she would serve as Ambassador to the United Nations.
Nauert's nomination to serve as ambassador has since been retracted by the Trump administration.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a press release Wednesday evening.
“Morgan brings outstanding credentials and a record of public service to the position,” Pompeo said.
“Morgan will no doubt help the State Department fulfill its mission of promoting and defending the Administration’s foreign policy priorities for the American people and among the international community.”
