Three US Service Members, Contractor Killed In Afghanistan

Three U.S. service members  and a U.S. contractor have died after an explosive device went off near Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan on Monday.  According to  U.S. military officials , three other American soldiers were wounded but have been evacuated and are receiving medical care.  The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which involved a car bomb targeting a U.S. military convoy near Bagram, one of America's  main military facilities  in Afghanistan.  Around 14,000  U.S. troops  are stationed in the country, mostly focused on supporting Afghan forces fighting the Taliban.  A top U.S. negotiator said progress was made with the terrorist group during the  latest round of peace talks  last month.

The two sides crafted some draft agreements, but nothing's been finalized.

So far,  at least seven American service members have been killed in Afghanistan this year.  Additional reporting from  Newsy affiliate CNN .
