The Fate Of The Library Millage Rededication Will Now Be In Hands Of Lafayette Parish Voters

3 ááácandaceáá} the lafayette city-parish council has passed a resolution that would allow voters to decide whether to rededicate money from the library millage to roads, bridges and drainage and parks and recreation.

Hey phil.

ááááphillipáá} the resolution did pass but the library won't see as much taken away as orginally proposed.

That's because councilman jay castille put forth an amendment to only take 10 million dollars from the library instead of 18 million.

After it passed, cydra wingerter, spokeswoman for mayor joel robideaux says the administration views the amended resolution as a win for everyone"certainly our drainage needs are great and 8 million dollars will only scratch the surface but the great news is the public works department has identified a slew of projects that are ready to be tackled, drainage ditches to be cleaned out so we are already what will be applied towards using those funds if they are approved by the voters."

ááááphillipáá} councilman william theriot also had an amendment proposal to divert 12 million dollars to drainage and two to parks and rec, but it didn't even reach a vote.
