The World Food Programme deployed two Sherps, all-terrain amphibious vehicles, each with a capacity of 1,000 kilos of cargo, to Mozambique on April 3 to deliver food aid to areas unreachable by other means. The vehicles are able to travel across land and water to inaccessible areas.

This footage shows the vehicles in Buzi, Mozambique, according to the WFP.In a press release, the WFP said that they have reached 717,000 people with aid assistance out of the 1.8 million in Mozambique affected by Cyclone Idai, as of April 8.

The β€œWFP intends to assist 1.7 million of the 1.8 million Mozambicans in need of emergency food assistance.

Many have lost everything: their homes, belongings, crops and livelihoods.

Needs assessments determine who to prioritize.” Credit: WFP via Storyful
