In a statement, Iger said his current contract with Disney ends in 2021.

Iger's CEO contract has been extended twice before, but he doesn't expect to do it a third time.

Bob Iger, via statement According to CNBC, Disney's recent successful acquisition of 21st Century Fox was a big factor in Iger's decision.

Besides Fox, Disney has bought a slew of major companies during his tenure.

They include Pixar, Lucasfilm and Marvel Entertainment.
