Democrats blast Barr, call for Mueller to testify

JERROLD NADLER, SAYING: "Attorney General Barr appears to have shown an unsettling willingness to undermine his own department in order to protect President Trump." The release of a redacted Mueller report Thursday – preceded by Attorney General William Barr’s press conference, in which he defended President Trump’s motives – had Democrats blasting Barr’s credibility, calling for the Special Counsel to testify before Congress and demanding that Americans see the entire report.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler among those who accused Barr of spinning the report in Trump’s favor.

JERROLD NADLER, SAYING: "Barr’s words and actions suggest he has been disingenuous and misleading in saying the President is clear of wrongdoing." Earlier in the day, Barr restated his belief that Trump did not obstruct justice – something Mueller himself could not say with certainty after his probe.

Barr also at times appeared sympathetic to the President’s state of mind.

There is substantial evidence to show that the President was frustrated and angered by a sincere belief that the investigation was undermining his presidency, propelled by his political opponents, and fueled by illegal leaks." Trump himself on Thursday took a pot shot at his, ‘haters’ and the ‘radical left Democrats’ by tweeting a ‘Game of Thrones’-like image saying, ‘No collusion, no obstruction.

Game over’ - later interjecting the phrase during an unrelated White House event.

It was called, ‘No collusion, no obstruction.’" Barr is set to testify before Congress in the coming weeks.

Nadler on Thursday also called for Mueller to testify no later than May 23rd.

But the Democrats are pressing on, with Nadler saying he will subpoena a non-redacted copy of Mueller’s report.

JERROLD NADLER, SAYING: "Even in its incomplete form, however, the Mueller report outlines disturbing evidence that President Trump engaged in obstruction of justice and other misconduct." Despite those claims, Democrats seem unlikely at this point to try to impeach the President.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told CNN Thursday impeachment was ‘not worthwhile.’
