>> reading from the acts of the apostles.

Paul and barn bass continued on the perking ga and reached antioch and per sid dia.

On the sabbath they entered the synagogue and take their seat.

Many jews followed paul and barn bass who spoke to them and urged them to remain faithful oh, the grays of god.

On the following sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the lord.

When the jews saw the crowds they were filled with jess loul sis and with violent abuse contradicted what paul said.

Both paul and barn bass spoke out boldly and said it was necessary that the word of god be spoken to you first but since you rejected and condemn yourselves of unworthy of eterm nall life we know turn to the gentiles for so the lord has commanded us i have made you a light the gentiles that you may be an instrument of salvation to the end of the earth.

The jept tiles were dell lied and glorified the word of the lord.

All who were destined to eternal life came to believe and the word of the lord spread through the whole region.

The jews incited the women of prominence who were worshippers and leading men of the city stirred up appears comings shin against paul and barn bass andx spelled them from their territory.

So they shook the dust from their feet and went to 18 cone yum.

The disciples were filled with joy and the holy spirit.

The word of the lord >> thanks be to god >> we are his people the sheep of his flock.

Sing joyfully to the lord all yeah lambs.

Serve the lord with glad ness come before him with joyful song.

>> we are his people the sheep of his flock >>no that the lord is good he made us.

His we are his people the flock he tends.

We are his people the sleep of his flock.

The lord is good his kindness endures forever and his faithfulness to all generations.

We are his people the sheep of his flock.

>> a reading from the book of revelations.

I john had a vision of great multitude which no one could count from every nation race people and tongue.

They stood before the thrown and before the lamb wearing white robes and holding palm branches in there hand.

Then one of the elders said to me these are the ones who have survived the time of great distress.

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb.

For this reason they stand before god's thrown and worship him day and night in his temple the one who sits on the thrown will shelter them.

They will not hunger or thirst anymore.

Nor will the sun or any heat strike them.

For the lamb who is in the center of the thrown will shepherd them and lead them to springs of life giving water and god will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

The word of the lord.

>> thanks be to god.

>> hall lay lie yachlt ?

Hallelujah.

?

Hallelujah.

>> i am the good shepherd says the lord.

I know my sheep and mine know me.

?

Hallelujah.

?

Hallelujah.

?

Hall lay who ya.

>> -- hallelujah.

>> the lord be with you.

>> and with your spirit.

>> a reading from the holy gospel according to john.

>> glory to you lord.

>> jesus said my sheep hear my voice.

I know them.

And they follow me.

I give them eternal life and they shall never parish.

No one can take them out of my hand.

My father who has given them to me is greater than all and no one can take them out of the father's hand.

The father and i are one.

The goes spell of the lord.

>> praise to you lord jesus christ.

>> so we enter into this fourth week of this easter season.

It seems to be passing by so quickly but this wonderful time that we continue to hear and proclaim in a variety of ways the sacred scripture that great voice of easter that christ has risen.

That god has the last word.

That it is the peace of our god that the lord wants us to know in more deeply enter into and abide in deep hearts of our lives the very core of our being no matter what we face that god is with us.

And so on this fourth sunday we have this great image of the good shepherd which is just a wonderful way for us to experience again that kind and depth of god's love and care and watchful ness for all of us and then the very short gospel this morning that go is very clear that the good shepherd that our lord knows the sheep even calls by name but shepherds in our world in ancient times and today have that same kind of relationship that that is the shepherd apps role to protect to provide for to be able to lead to passengers and to be able to make sure that their comfortable and living as they might live and so this great image of the shepherd is that one for all of us and that invitation for us like sheep are to a shepherd to become more and more dependent our whole lives on the good shepherd that everything that we are about is about jesus christ.

Everything that we are about and live and proclaim by our lives our witness about christ has risen from the dead.

And so it is that wonderful image and vision that we hear also in that second reading from the book of revelation and the book of revelation that final book of the christian scripture the new testament is never quite an easy read.

It's filled with many visions and images sights and sounds sometimes very strange kind of images.

Sometimes they seem to be rather threatening but remember that john as the author and the writer of the book of revelation had been ex sealed to the island of pat moss a popular tourist destination in the mediterranean sea today but in those days it was all can interests a place of exile and imprisonment and he had been ex sooild for proclaiming and preaching the good news of jesus christ risen from the dead.

The good news of the good shepherd.

And it was a time in that first century of great persecution against the church and against that whole prook college nation of good news and again the persecution by continued to be some jewish leaders but also by the romance to occupying force that is remind unders that the romance were and their arm meets were huge and they occupied and they ruled the world for hundreds of years.

And it is the book of revelation of john's writing to the christian community from that island of pat most that it was an unveiling of a whole new state of affairs because of jesus resurrection that it would no longer be true that the romance and their power and their imperial ness in this world would have absolute power over people's lives.

And it is even though they still dominated in a very worldly sense that vision and that proclamation of jesus risen for the dead is that the real power is belongs to those who follow jesus.

Those who grow in a bass in the first reading who really felt that rejection and the difficulty of trying to be faithful and proclaim the good news of jesus cease but knowing that people not everybody really accepted that and even sometimes to think about so many so often we who really strive to share our faith and stay faithful to the church that parents and grandparents and god parents who do that sometimes our young people that will reject what we strive to do but it's the lord who keeps saying paul and barn bass keeps saying the whole multitude of mart tirs continue to say stay with it and be faithful witnesses of the truth of jesus christ because jesus story of death and resurrection and suffering it's our story and so we strive to live more deeply in that intimacy and that relationship and invitation for us to follow the good shepherd and become more and more dependent upon the grace and that love as we strive to continue to become the body and blood of christ and live as his faithful people.

>> and let's proclaim this great faith of the whole church i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god the father before all ages god from god light from light true god from true god.

Begotten not made consubstantial with the father.

Through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven.

And by the holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin mary and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under punning shoes pilot.

He suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scripture.

He ascend and into heaven and is seated at the right happened of the father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and of the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified who has spoken through the profits.

I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.

Icon if he is one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come amen.

At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he take bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it.

For this is my body which will be given up for you.

In a similar way when supper was ended he take the chalice and once more he gave this to his disciples and said take this and drinking from it because it is the my blood which will be poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.
