Rabbis Slam New Abortion Law As Forced-Birth Mentality, Nazi Philosophy

Alabama's newly-passed abortion ban includes text comparing abortion to a host of unrelated issues... ...Like the Holocaust, Stalin's gulags, China's "Great Leap Forward," and Khmer Rouge's Cambodian genocide.

The bill makes it a class A felony, meaning 99 years in prison for doctors who perform abortions.

There are no exceptions for rape or incest and notes fetuses as people with full rights, says Business Insider.

"All of these are widely acknowledged to have been crimes against humanity.

By comparison, more than 50 million babies have been aborted in the United States since the Roe decision in 1973... "more than three times the number killed in German death camps, Chinese purges, Stalin's gulags, Cambodian killing fields, and 2 the Rwandan genocide combined." Jewish leaders and rabbis have slammed that comparison as both highly offensive and historically inaccurate.

"The 'forced-birth' mentality of those determined to eliminate abortion access is far closer to the Nazi philosophy of dehumanization and oppression." Reform Rabbi Hara Person Person points out near-total bans on abortion "push us closer to the kind of totalitarian regime that enabled the Holocaust."
