Morehouse College Graduates Cheer After Billionaire Pledges to Clear Their Loans
The class of 2019 at Morehouse College received a commencement speech to remember on May 19 when billionaire Robert F.
Smith announced his family would be making a grant to pay off the student debt for the graduating class.
Smith, a philanthropist and technology investor, received an honorary doctorate from the historically black university on graduation day.
“This is my class,” he told graduates and alumni as he announced his donation.
“On behalf of the eight generations of my family that have been in this country, we are going to put a little fuel in your bus,” he said.
