Pakistan says open to peace talks while conducting ballistic missile test

According to a report by Reuters, Pakistan signaled a willingness to open peace talks with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi after an election won in the shadow of renewed confrontation between the nuclear-armed opponents.

At the same time, Pakistan announced that it had conducted a training launch of a Shaheen-II ballistic missile, which it claims is capable of delivering conventional and nuclear weapons at a range up to 1,500 miles.

Reuters reports that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly offered to start talks with India to resolve the Kashmir issue, and officials have expressed hopes that the process could begin once the election in India was concluded.
