Activists Chant 'Stop the Bans' Outside Louisiana State Capitol in Protest of Abortion Restrictions
Activists gathered on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol building on May 30, to protest the state’s ban on abortion in cases where a pulse that will later become a fetus’s heartbeat can be detected.
Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed the controversial legislation into law on that date after the bill passed the state’s House of Representatives a day earlier.
Louisiana became the latest in a number of states, including Alabama and Georgia, to pass restrictions on access to abortion services.
This video shows activists associated with sexual healthcare group Planned Parenthood protesting the Louisiana government’s decision, chanting “Stop the bans!” outside the Louisiana State Capitol government building.
