Tech cold war heats up as Russia signs deal to build 5G internet with Huawei

According to a report by Business Insider, Russia's largest network provider has signed a deal with Chinese tech giant Huawei to set up 5G internet in the country, an apparent escalation in the tech cold war rocking the US and China.

On Wednesday, Russia's MTS signed the agreement with Huawei to see 'the development of 5G technologies and the pilot launch of fifth generation networks in 2019 and 2020," MTS said in a statement, as cited by Agence France-Presse.
