Families on the Ridge this summer with children are getting a help from the Paradise School District with the meal security program "Meet up and eat up."

Action news now reporter stephanie lin sat down with some very little diners for their thoughts on the summer food program.

In fact 150 meals are expected to be served per day to families and their kids in paradise and magalia.

And for kids on the ridge... nats free meals like these give more than just a sense of community... do you want milk or chocolate milk?

Every laugh... a return to what life was like before the fire.

She also made taquitos and burgers!

Tanya harter is the director of food services for the paradise unified school district.

It's about moving forward, with the community, getting back to our feet.

What better way to do it than with food for kids?

The kids love it.

My girls ask every day, can we go to the food truck?

This is the fifth year for the summer food program... and there are now three sites offering free meals... fewer than years prior, as the community here has gotten smaller.

What's your favorite?

Probably the turkey sandwich.

Despite the differences... the efforts of the adults are still felt by the kids... like zoe... reporter: how is the food tasting?
