New York City allocates $250,000 for abortion funding

Allure reports New York City made an unprecedented move over the weekend in support of patients seeking abortions.

On Saturday, the New York City City Council approved the allocation of $250,000 of the city’s 2020 budget to go to the New York Abortion Access Fund, a fund for patients who need an abortion but can't afford it.

New York is now the first U.S. city to have contributed to an abortion fund.

A campaign called #FundAbortionNYC had previously lobbied the City Council for the money.
