(SOUNDBITE) (English) MILWAUKEE BUCKS FORWARD GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO SAYING: "You know I am not going to lie to you, I definitely didn't imagine all this to come my way, you know being the first European international to have a signature shoe, being the MVP, being on the 2K cover, so many other things that you know, came with it, in such an early age, I definitely did not imagine that.

But I always had the vision and the dream in my head that I am going to do whatever it takes for me to make it to the NBA - but all this, this is insane." STORY: Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo - known as 'The Greek Freak' - returned to his hometown on Friday (June 28) scarcely believing his meteoric rise in the NBA.

Appearing at a promotional event to promote a new training shoe named 'Freak' in his honour, Antetokounmpo revealed his simple philosophy on life and said he loves his nickname.

He was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player in a ceremony in Santa Monica, California on Monday (June 24).

The 24-year old comes from a working-class neighbourhood of the Greek capital.

He was born in the country to Nigerian parents and he and his four brothers sold trinkets on the street.

He grew up fearing deportation but was eventually granted Greek citizenship in 2013 when he was 19.

He credited his older brother, Thanasis who plays basketball for Greece's Panathinaikos team, for inspiring him to take up the game.
