UK's May says Iran must uphold nuclear deal obligations

Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan - Britian's outgoing prime minister said the UK would continue to work with their Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) partners to keep the Iranian nuclear deal in place.

"We believe the deal makes the world safer and I want to see Iran uphold its obligations," May said during her news conference.

A week after Washington abruptly called off air strikes on Iran in retaliation for a downing of a drone, European diplomats said on Friday (28 June) that Tehran is days away from exceeding the maximum amount of enriched uranium allowed under its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, which Washington quit last year.

May also held separate meetings with Turkish President Tayip Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman on Saturday.
