Measles once again making the headlines, as two new cases were just diagnosed in washington.
This follows one of the largest outbreaks we've seen, and new legislation aimed at raising vaccination our hawk hammer working for you tonight with more on that new law, and what it means for you and your kids.
That new law....goes into affect july 28th.
One of the main take aways.... You will no longer be able to get and mmr vaccine exemption for personal or philosphical reasons in washington... Those are gone.
Mmr stands for measles mumps medical and religious exemptions will still be allowed.your child will need to have documentation on or vefore the first day of school or before going to a licensed daycare showing that he or she has started the mmr vaccine.
It takes two doses spread across several weeks.
To account for that, if you child is not compliant with say that second dose on the first day, they will have 30 days to get so before being removed from school.
The head of the spokane regional health district says a big part of this new legisaltion will be edcuation.
