England and New Zealand captains react to epic World Cup final

England's captain Eoin Morgan says the day's lucky end was pay-off for years of hard work as New Zealand's Kane Williamson voices disappointment with outcome.

SHOWS: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (JULY 14, 2019) (ICC - NO RESALES) 1.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN, EOIN MORGAN, SAYING: "To me and to the team and to everybody who's been involved for the past four years it means absolutely everything.

The planning, the hard work, the dedication, the commitment and the little bit of luck today really did get us over the line.

It's been an absolutely incredible journey.

To everybody around the country and around the world who has followed us and supported us thank you so much.

It's been phenomenal right from the very beginning of the tournament all the way through regardless of our performance people believed because we believed and I'm very thankful for that and everybody is as well." 2.

WHITE FLASH 3.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW ZEALAND CAPTAIN, KANE WILLIAMSON, SAYING: "Yes, obviously just gutted.

The guys put in a huge amount of work to get this opportunity to come here and play in another World Cup final and to pretty much do all you could and still not perhaps get across the line with some small margins and I think throughout this whole campaign in a lot of my press conferences I've spoken about uncontrollables and there were a couple today that were pretty hard to swallow but once again take nothing away from England's campaign, not just this match but throughout.

All the cricket that they've played they're deserved winners.

I think if either side walking away with the title today probably feels fortunate having it sort of go down to obviously a tie after regular time and I think another one wasn't it after six more balls so yes one of those things, eh?" STORY: England captain Eoin Morgan said winning the World Cup for the first time by beating New Zealand in an extraordinary final at Lord's on Sunday (July 14) was a fitting reward for years of hard work by his players.

England, eliminated at the group stage after a dismal performance in the World Cup four years ago, won by virtue of hitting more boundaries after the match, and a Super Over, both ended in ties.

New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson, said the defeat was "gutting" but congratulated England after winning by the finest of margins.

IPL 2020: Going forward, hoping good score on board, says SRH Coach

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 13. Williamson's fifty went into vain as SRH hurtled to a 20-run defeat. SRH coach Trevor Bayliss over team's defeat said, "We have got some good young players, we are trying to get some experienced in the middle order. We have done well in the last few years scoring runs at the top in the order. It's probably more difficult battling conditions here in Dubai than back home." He further said, "Obviously, Shahbaz Nadeem coming in and played his first game and did pretty well. Sandeep Sharma is getting his confidence. Kane Williamson keeps scoring runs and is very consistent. We expect the runs going forward and hoping good score on the board." Irrespective of the loss, SRH remained on the fifth position in the points table.

Former ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat joins Abu Dhabi T10 League

Former CEO of International Cricket Council (ICC) Haroon Lorgat joined Abu Dhabi T10 League as Director of Strategy and Development. Founder and Chairman of T10 Sports Management, Shaji Ul Mulk welcomed him and said, "It's time now to move ahead with a much better professional management and bring in names of repute from cricketing world. I am very happy to announce that Mr Haroon Lorgat has agreed to join us as Director, Strategy and Development of T10. He will help us make T10 League a truly global brand." On his new role, Haroon Lorgat said, "I am very grateful. It's very different to what I have done before - having been involved in long form cricket, in national and international federations. I witnessed T10 cricket for the first time last year and was amazed by its appeal and potential for advancement. Once upon a time, we may have thought 10 overs of an innings was just not cricket but the kind of skills, strategies adopted by coaches and teams when I saw matches last year, said to me there is a future here. It can be used as a development tool, as entertainment. It lasts 90 minutes - duration of football matches. In today's world, this format lends itself to something different. I am confident it will be embraced way beyond UAE." The fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League will take place from January 28 to February 6 next year.
