35 Arrested in Trump's
'Operation Border Resolve'
The operation was touted
by President Donald Trump
as an effort to deport "millions" of
immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.
2,100 of the close to 1 million
people in the U.S. who have
been issued final deportation
orders were targeted, specifically.
ICE officials contend
that none of the arrests led
to a separation of families.
While the raids have
been politically divisive, ICE
maintains that they are routine.
ICE raids that targeted undocumented
immigrants with criminal records led
to the arrests of 899 people,
over the course of two months.
In addition, ICE issued 3,282 notices
of inspection to businesses, informing
them of an audit to be conducted
on their hiring records.
ICE acting director Matthew
Albence said the "silents raids"
are meant to "reduce economic
opportunities" for those in the U.S. illegally.
