Neighbours form human chain against ICE

Neighbours and community members in the U.S. state of Tennessee formed a human chain to help protect a man wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) officials on Monday (July 22).

Rough cut, no reporter narration.

The man was driving a white van when it was blocked in a driveway by ICE vehicles and officials.

The man remained in the car, alongside a boy, for several hours, as the ICE officials did not have the right to remove them by force, according to NBC.

Once the ICE officials left the area, footage from local Spanish news website Nashville Noticias showed people forming a human chain, counting in Spanish and directing the boy inside the van to run into a nearby house.

The Trump administration said on Monday it will expand and speed up deportations of migrants who enter the United States illegally by stripping away court oversight, enabling officials to remove people in days rather than months or years.
