Taylor Swift speaks about gender equality at Teen Choice awards
Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers were among the winners at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards.
The annual ceremony is voted for by fans aged 13 and over and features categories in film, TV, music, sport and social media.
Pop superstar Swift won the first-ever icon award and used her acceptance speech to call for gender equality and announce the release date of a new single.
The 29-year-old was introduced to the stage by Alex Morgan, who won the World Cup with the US women’s football team in July.
Swift backed the team in their campaign for equal pay with the men’s side and told fans: “Please, please, please support her and her teammates because this isn’t over yet.
It’s not resolved.”
