Paradise high freshman are getting ready for their orientation happening at 8 a.m.

This morning.

They will be starting their school year thursday.

The school is facing several challenges after the camp fire- including signifigant decreases in enrollment and staffing.

Several northstate lawmakers came together at a town hall monday-- to discuss recovery after the camp fire.

They discussed building fees-- which are covered by a grant from the north valley community foundation--- up to 35-hundred dollars.

And they also talked about finding funds for tree removal.#### people affected by some of our state's wildfires in 2017 and 2018 can now file claims with pg&amp;e.

This applies to victims of the camp, atlas, nuns and tubbs fire.

The deadline to apply is november 15th.

You can file online through pg&amp;e's wildfire assistance program.

### today-- the shasta county board of supervisors is set to take up the issue of fire safety - specifically, "defensible space."

Supervisors will be discussing an ordinance which would require property owners in unincorporated areas to create defensible space around structures and roadways.

A public hearing on the proposed ordinance is this morning at 9 a-m at 1450 court street, in redding.

### cal fire battled the "lower fire" overnight in shasta county.

The fire broke out around 1:30 monday afternoon in the area of at gas point rd &amp; lower gas point rd in igo.

At last update the lower fire burned 47 acres and is 75 percent contained.

Cal fire determined that it was lightning that caused the fire.

### we are following developing news out of riverside this morning-- a c-h-p officer is dead and two other officers wounded after a suspect opened fire on a highway-- during a traffic stop.

The officer, identified as andre moye, jr. died from his injuries.

The suspect was eventually killed by police.#### new regulations could slash the number of legal immigrants that are able to enter and stay in the country.

The regulations state that green card and visa applicants may be rejected if they have used government assistance such as food stamps or medicaid.
