'Variety' reports that Styles has passed on appearing in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.” Rumors swirled that he would star as Prince Eric, the love interest of Ariel, who will be played by Halle Bailey.

Both AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas wrongly tweeted he would appear in the flick.

"Prince Harry" was the #1 trending topic on Twitter on Tuesday night.

Rumors of the One Direction singer’s possible involvement in the film began back in July 2019.

Since then, fans had eagerly called for Styles to land the role, as they believed he is a perfect fit.

Although Styles does not have much acting experience, he did play a minor role in “Dunkirk,” which grossed a total of $527.3 million worldwide.

Production on “The Little Mermaid” is expected to begin in January 2020.
