Here's what you need to know to start your day.

We now know the results of the senate district one special election.

With 100-percent of the votes counted, democrat elizabeth betancourt, of shasta county, leads with 39- percent of the vote.

Republican megan dahle, the wife of state senator brian dahle, is in 2nd place with 36- percent.

Assembly district one encompasses parts of butte and placer counties and all of seven other counties in the north east corner of the state, including shasta county.### the state senate is set to vote on a bill designed to speed up housing after the camp fire.

A-b 430 oved*ou* of the senate appropriations committee without a vote monday- and passed directly to a floor vote.

The bill seeks to streamline the environmental approval process for housing developments in several north sate cities.

### toda* is the deadline for democratic presidential hopefuls to qualify for the third debate next month.

Contenders must meet even tougher fundraising and polling thresholds this time.

If more than 10 canidates qualify, the debate could again be split over two nights..#### deputies arrested 25-year- old robert anderson of chico for the murder of "gunther rupprecht".

It all started just before noon tuesday in forest ranch, when a passerby found anderson with a large cut on his leg.

He told that person he had been in a fight -at a home on schott road.

When deputies arrived - they found rupprecht's body.

If you are near the oroville dam today-- do not be alarmed if you hear loud noises.

The d-w-r is sending out a noise advisory.

They say they will be using a testing device with some loud sounds today from 7 a-m to 7 p- m.

There may be some traffic delays for several minutes while testing takes place.
