A violent brawl broke out on an MRT train in a Hong Kong station between anti and pro-government supporters.

An old man was among those who came to blows with young black-clad activists.

Activists claimed they were attacked first by the government supporters and only acted in self-defence.

Tear gas was also released in the train carriage.

Prince Edward station was closed because of the incident.
