Activists arrested ahead of reported plans to fly drones over Heathrow Airport
Arrests have been made ahead of reported plans by climate activists to fly drones near Heathrow Airport.
Roger Hallam, a co-founder of the Extinction Rebellion group, and Mike Lynch-White were held by police in east London.
Heathrow Pause – a splinter group of the Extinction Rebellion movement, but separate from it, has said it intends to fly drones in the 5km exclusion zone around the airport on Friday.
The group said two of those planning to pilot the machines were “pre-emptively arrested” following a magazine interview.
Video footage posted online shows the pair being handcuffed by plainclothes officers and put into the back of separate unmarked vehicles.
