Catholic priest Nolan to accuser: 'I'll never forget the way he has ruined my life'

Family and former parishioners of William Nolan celebrated in Jefferson County court after he was acquitted of all child sexual assault charges Friday.

First at four ... a retired priest is found not guilty on all five counts of sexual assault of a child.

Jurors in jefferson county deliberated for four hours... before william nolan was acquitted of all charges.

Rose schmidt spoke with him... and joins us live from the jefferson county courthouse to explain his next steps.

Right after the jury gave the verdict, i asked nolan to tell me how he was feeling... and he said "relieved."

I spoke with the accuser's family, and they declined comment at this time.

Nolan was facing 5 counts of second degree sexual assault of a child... after a judge dropped a sixth charge.

He was accused of sexually assaulting an altar boy between 2006 and 2010... but a jury found him not guilty on all counts there were cheers and hugs in the courtroom from his family and many of his longtime parishioners.

As for nolan's next steps, he tells me he has to talk to the diocese..

But he does want to get back into ministry and help on a limited amount.

I asked nolan what he wants to say to the accuser... (((6:51:29 you know i'm a catholic priest and i'm supposed to forgive and i think i can do that 33 but i'll never forget, i'll never forget the way he has ruined my life 38))) nolan tells us this week and trial has been quote "very very stressful"... and he says he knew he was telling the truth and that there were inconsistencies with the accuser's story.

I asked him if he plans to go back to our lady queen of peace in madison and he said no... and wants to go somewhere else to help fill in.

We also asked nolan how he moves forward after a year like this and his answer was one day at a time..

Again, i spoke with a member of the accuser's family... and the family is declining comment at this time.
