Bright red haze turned Indonesian skies into Mars-like atmosphere
This is Earth not Mars!
Following an out of control forest fire, a thick smokey haze formed over the Muaro Jambi province of Indonesia and turned it into a martian like atmosphere.
Glowing red haze enveloped the entire sky unsettling the local residents.
Fire is caused by open burning method called 'slash and burn' to clear large areas of forest for plantation during the dry season.
Indonesian meteorology said the sky had turned red "due to scattering of sunlight by minuscule particles floating in the air know as Rayleigh Scattering".
