Amazon Could Soon Track Your Phone Location While You're Out
On Wednesday, Amazon revealed a crop of new products.
But, according to Business Insider there are two that have people talking.
They are "Sidewalk," a new wireless protocol that links smart objects, and "eero," a brand of WiFi router that people can use in their homes.
Business Insider explains that Amazon's mesh network could help the tech company monitor your phone's location.
This could happen even if you don't use Amazon's wireless networks in your own home — or connect to their WiFi when you're out.
Amazon's mesh network could get data about the location of your devices.
Business Insider adds, "The company has not clarified many details surrounding how the mesh network will be used."
Motherboard adds, "Amazon has multiple contracts with police, turning over insights from its network of Ring cameras to as many as 200 police departments nationwide."
