A buzz in girdwood today as the inaugural alaskaman extreme triathlon crowns it's first ever champion.

Andrew fast from salt lake city winning with a time of 11 hours 18 minutes and 29 seconds.

Daniel folmer was the first alaskan to cross the finish line in third place, and morgan chaffin took first for the women, finishing fifth place overall.

Beginning at four o'clock this morning competitors began in seward, and went all the way to the top of alyeska.

The extreme triathlon is just over one hundred and forty miles in all inlcuding.

A two point six mile swim, 113 point five mile bike ride, and 27 point five mile run.

"put in the work, and have fun man, that what it's all about, fun and community."

"but i had an awesome crew, just talking me through it, keeping me feuled, and it comes down to picking it off in bite sized chunks and by the end of the day you have done something huge and you cant beat that.

Organizers say they expect the last racers to finsih at eleven o'clock tonight.

The alaska mountain rugby grounds was home to rugby talent from across the world this evening.

The grounds held five matches with teams from alaska, canada, and new zeland.

Alaska putting together a select team for both men and women.

The mens squad tell us they had success winning a couple of matches.

These games were all apart of alaska ruggerfest....earl ier in the week....the out of town teams held a youth camp at the park strip.

For those who made the trip they say it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"there is a couple of words in the dictionary we ahve had to retire after this trip...phenomal...aweso me.....wow....amazing just some of those words.

We have all seen the alaska mountain rugby grounds on the website but certainly when we drive up the drive way in the evening when the place is all lit up, and everybody is there.

The alaska baseball league scout showcase still going on at mulcahy today.

And the oilers winning a close one against the pilots 4 to 3.

Kellen strahm going three for three in that game for the oilers.

Lastly tonight local softball teams fight for state supremecy in the u-s-a alaska state fast pitch tournament.

They're four divisions 12, 14, and 18 under teams. today teams began with pool play to decided seeds and then went into tournament play.

Tournament organizers say teams who win have a chance to qualify for out of state u-s-a softball tournament if they choose to travel.

All the games taking place at albrecht field and action will wrap up tomorrow.

This won't be the last tournament for kamryn frisk as she signs with northwest kansas tech in goodland kansas to play softball.

She played her high school ball for service, and was there team captain.
