Eclipse... we'll experience about 91 percent here in northwest arkansas... nate kuester - from our sister station k-n-w-a -- is at a local family's home - to give us their perspective, nate, good morning.
Nate says, "hey thanks guys, very excited about this here.
I'm at the lee family home in fayetteville and we're all getting ready to check out the total eclipse, and totality is a huge deal.
Now i have amanda and evan here.
We know them of course through arkansas children's northwest.
Evan, here, is one of the ambassadors for the program and has just been a superstar for everything that's been going on in association with the hospital.
And amanda i know that you guys met up with chief meteorologist dan skoff recently.
What happened when you saw each other at that benefit?
Evan's mother amanda lee says, "well evan and dan just got to talking about the eclipse at the 'will golf for kids' event for children's hospital and dan was so excited because he found someone that was as excited as he was.
So, anyway, ever since then they've just been so excited to get together and go see this eclipse."
Nate says, "i know that you and evan knew about the eclipse, but were you planning on going to see totality before you met dan?
Amanda says, "no, no we weren't.
You know evan has school that day, i was supposed to work.
So no, we weren't gonna' take off work or school to go see it."
Nate says, "now evan, i know that you're very excited about this.
And this is something that really got dan's attention.
So, before this you weren't gonna' skip school.
You were gonna' go to school and just check it out here.
But now we're going to missouri, we're gonna' check it out ourselves.
What are you most excited for about with the eclipse?"
Evan lee says, "i'm excited about seeing it."
Nate says, "it's gonna' be pretty cool.
It's gonna' get totally dark, because here in northwest arkansas, i'm sure dan told you, it won't be the same as what we're about to experience.
What did he tell you about it?
Evan says, "he told me that it was gonna' be awesome because totality is like we get to see the whole eclipse."
Nate says, "it's gonna' be very exciting.
We're all excited about this.
We're trekking up to booneville, missouri at least we're hoping it works out that way.
It's happening today.
We're gonna' be doing lots of facebook lives.
Evan is gonna' join me on those.
We're gonna' see if we can get you in there as well amanda and chief meterologist dan skoff will be joiing us, giving us the full details on what we're all experiencing.
And we can't wait to bring you those live updates.
We'll, of course, be in the evening shows as well.
And evan is going to be there with us t, the whole time!
It's gonna' be exciting.
Alright, i'm gonna' send it back to you guys.
We'll go ahead and check out a little later on with ya' about what's going on with the eclipse."
((jennifer)) thanks nate...those at home can join our crew on social media.
Dan, nate and the lee family will be sharing their experiences on face book live and on twitter - all day.
