The southern baptist convention of virginia is preparing to send supplies and volunteers, but they can't do it just yet.
They're waiting for the "green light" from authorities.
Here are some of their crews working after the louisiana floods last year.
You can see just how widespread the damage was there.
And this time, it's even worse.
Organizers expect it'll be seven to ten days before they're on the ground in texas -- and possibly louisiana.
Mark gauthier, director of disaster relief, sbcv: "we're not first responders so we have to wait until that's complete, until the water starts to receed so that we can send logistics peope in.
Make preparations for where our teams will sleep, where they can eat, and then we will start sending teams."
S-b-c-v also responded here to the west virginia floods.
They expect to send a hundred volunteers initially.
