Break news an uintah fire mouth weber canyon wee checking andrew reser live on situation that is now burned several structures including homes threaten many more and closed down flee way in that area andrew reser standingt several minutes.
What do we know now well brian, right now we have a confirmed that 5 homes and uintah high lands area have burned because of the uintah fire which broke out around 7:30 this morning.
You take look behind me, wind sustained about 45 miles per hour right now is still going strong.
Making things very difficult for firefighters as they continue to battle this blaze.
Now we hope that it within the next few minutes this wind supposed to die down according to national weather service.
So that could definitely help end fight uintahed fire.
Now, we have seen several residents here who have just been really worried about their homes including several who have come utah oh here with binoculars.
We're right off of s r 89.
Right before they closed it at the mouth we be weber canyon.
And till belowing from fire.
Heir julie jordan south weber rent.
>> how's is it go?
We talked to earlier, before kind of this really became really intense.
Talk about what your feeling as you're watching neighborhood.
You have lot friends who live in this.
I have friends that have family.
Their whole family lives over there.
I would we we were on our deck and saw it when it was little.
And we came down here and saw it just grow and just turn and wipe through this neighborhood.
And we can see houses burning.
You get to see their silhouette of it.
And just t.
Breaks your heart.
We've seen so many of these fires, types of wildfires not only around country but here in utah this year a huge year for fires for brush fires.
Threaten structures like this.
It hasn't been this bad though in our area.
Can you talk about what that's like watching as your neighborhood is threatened essentially by this fire?
We worried bras we live on a hill.
We live on mountain to, trees and brush.
And we thought you know you're always worried about it.
Okay we're okay.
Then to see it change so fast from just on the mountain, down into neighborhood.
Have you spoken to your friends that live in neighborhood?
I have up there helping their family.
They said they were stop stomping out ember know three friends homes are gone shuttle to try to have lot of farm animals and they've trying to get them out.
Do you know if they've already gone to the event center.
I don't think they are.
I think they are still up there.
Getting stuff out.
That's kind of risky in yeah.
Are you worried about them?
Well yes and my husband talked to one of them and said they are okay but they were actually stomping out embers and they, they were it wasn't the big stuff wasn't right by them right then.
So they were getting out.
Julie thanks for talking to us.
We appreciate it.
Sorry this has been such a crazy morning for you as you guys have watched this just been awful.
But we appreciate you speaking with us thank you.
So that's was julie.
She had friends that live in uintahs high lands area here which has been threatened so which by the uintah fire.
Which broke out once again around 7:30.
W were last told about 40 acres had burned.
We anticipate that will change sue fire has spread.
I think brian mentioned earlier, there have been some school evacuations including south weber elementary school.
So if you have children who go to that elementary school, you want to be aware that that elementary school has been dismissed early.
So this is pick up point you can find that out on www.good4utah.com.
Also, if you are an evacuee of the uintah high lands neighborhood they are strongly recommend you don't go into neighborhood julie talked some friends that were still up there.
Who were trying to stomp out embers i don't think that's recommended at this point because it is still very, very unpredictable.
So fire officials are asking that you let the firefighters do their job.
Go to d event center in davis county where you can find out more information about what's next for you if your neighborhood has been affected.
By this fire.
But i do want to mention, once again.
We know 5 homes have been burned in the uintah fire so far.
The wind is hopefully dying down soon.
That's should hopefully help air crews be able to to dop fiery tar danned a couple planes going across the area here.
Dropping some of that, you know that red powder that comes out of planes to help fight the fire.
And a with wind dying down a little bit they will have window where they can really get a handle on this.
Brian, back to you.
All right thank you andrew we want to keep with you for second.
A shot you see there from andrew where wind is kicking up and the smoke is coming through.
If andrew you can still hear me i'm curious that 20 minute span since we checked in with you last how quickly does it look like you fire seems to be advancing along that hill side?
>> >> i'm sorry can you repeat that one more time?
You're there on ground andrew.
We're looking at the hill side where the smoke continues to be able to grow.
Continues to lick up those flames across the hills.
How quickly in that 20 minute span since you last that fire has advancing?
>> so, probably in the last hour, brian we've seen the fire advance close to where we are across highway 89.
But it has stopped it looks like.
It's seems i'm not an expert here, but it seems like the fire itself is not advancing that much.
Now what i am worried about is around mountain here.
Down skyline drive.
I think i mentioned this earlier my aunt and uncle live in that area.
That's, that's worrisome.
And a we don't know from what we can see.
It seems ago those the fire is not spreading as we speak right now.
Now smoke is another issue.
One of the main concerns right now that firefighters have told me is that this wind is kicking up some of these embers.
So ember flies, you know, a mile away, it can spark another fire.
Just really volatile and really unpredictable at this point.
Thank you much andrew reser live from scene there in weber count.
One concerns he mentioned embers kicking up with wind that fire has ump whied highway one point u.s. 89 meets up with i 84.
So the potential where that fire can go you're getting a live look at that area right now.
Is concern for firefighters.
So we continue to monitor that situation.
We know that firefighters are telling people to stay away from that area if possible.
The freeway in that area ifs closed.
There are several places that are evacuated.
Neighborhood in that area we want to go and run through some here right now andrew mentioned this just moments before but students at south weber elementary school are being evacuated to go to clearfield high school.
Now parents are being asked to pick up those kids at clear field high school.
You're parent south weber elementary you will need to show identification to the people who are there at clearfield high to pick up those kids.
Now as far as the other neighborhoods that are evacuated.
If you live north of south weber drive.
Thatter being evacuated.
There are also mandatory evacuations on bayou road.
He vac is also include bonneville terrace, karen drive, comb bee, and you can see those area are all being he vaek waited.
Evacuation center is mckayed center in weber count with people being told to go.
We know we just heard from people in that area.
Who are thinking of going up and to maybe checking things out again firefighters are telling everyone to stay away as much as you can.
We continue update you on fire situation on midday of course online as well at www.good4utah.com.
Give you live updates on where areas being evacuated and where people are
