Too.it was pre-turkey pull ups at i-rock fitness.hundreds of people participated in the non-stop, 3-hour circuit workout offered for those hoping to shed the pounds before packing in the pies.

Each person completed an exercise for 1 minute before moving on to the next exercise... the goal... to workout for at least an hour.

Those who came out say it's extra motivation for those mashed potatoes.

"i loved seeing all the people.

I really had no idea what to expect, so it was very " motivating.""i feel like i won't feel as guilty later.

It's just a great way to start the day, get everything done and get me a little more motivation."

Now ... if you didn't get up and work out on thanskgiving... there is always today to work off those thanksgiving calories.

3 from the turkey... to the pumpkin pie... thanksgiving is a time centered around the dinner table.but for some, it's not always an option.but, that's where local restaurants are coming in.jackie roberts ex.

For most people, thanksgiving revolves around family, friends and food....but for people like ricky fenton...it's a different story.

"i live alone and i don't have a turkey so i go to this place to eat free turkey and take home a meal for the holidays."

He's one of many people getting their holiday fix at calamari's squid row.for eight years straight...the restaurant teams up with mercyhurst prep...serving meals to those people in need.

Need.

"we collected over 700 cans of corn and craberry sauce.

Our school made 150 pumpkin pies.

We had a few turkey donations."

Donations.""throughout the day volunteers tell us they'll pack around 800 to 1,000 thanksgiving dinners to give out."

"you see all these people that don't have homes or don't have the warmth to go in and a lot of them just don't even company to share a meal with.

So they come there simply just to have that resource."

The team of 50 volunteers give people the option of taking their meal to go...or joining someone at the table.

Table."they are so thankful and so appreciative and that just makes all of this planning, the whole entire day completely worth it."

Because no matter the size of your family...or the food on your table...these volunteers say everyone deserves a good thanksgiving.

"it means a lot.

It means love and giving and caring and what god wants us to do."

And fenton says that's what the holiday is all about.

Jackie roberts, jet 24 action news 3 another erie restaurant welcomes the public in for thanksgiving dinner.with new owners... dominick's eatery continues the tradition of serving a free meal.around 20 volunteers prepared and serve mashed potatoes... corn... and of course turkey.organizers typically plan for about 300 people.

"we've been volunteering here, doing this thanksgiving dinner, for 20 plus years and it just never occured not to do it.

It was just one of those things where it had to be done and we were going to just keep that tradition going."

The owner tells us they've been preparing for the meal...... and accepting donations....... for several months.

3 and, a local group of artists come together to give out free meals for the holiday.

Holiday.the volunteers rounded up donations, and cooked a huge dinner... including 4 turkeys, to feed dozens of people in the community who may not have a family to spend the holiday with.rupp limousine provided transportation to colab from 11th and state in their party bus.those who made the event possible say it's especially important to remember the less fortunate during the holiday season.

"we're blessed that we're in the community so we just want to give back."

I think the most important part to remember is even if you're struggling there's someone out there that could be doing worse.

Colab will host a fundraiser december 7th from 5 until 9 p- m at the bourbon barrel to raise money to give less fortunate kids in the area toys for christmas.

3 a christmas tradition takes over the bayfront convention center this weekend.it's the 33rd annual saint vincent festival of trees.

Visitors enjoy christmas- themed activities -- like a tour of santa's home and cookie decorating with mrs. claus.many of the trees will be auctioned off too!

Too!the 2017 festival of trees runs today and tomorrow from 10 a-m to 8 p-m, and sunday from 10 a-m to 5 p-m.tickets are 10 dollars for adults... and 6 dollars for children.it all happens at the bayfront convention center.

3 and, every year at this time, the warner theatre is transformed into a winter wonderland for the annual arts and craft show.

This is the 22nd year for the holiday event that features more than 55 crafters and vendors.everything is homemade... which makes for special and unique gifts.you could also get pictures taken with santa and mrs. claus.

Claus.the warner winter wonderland art and craft show runs saturday from 10 a-m until 5 p-m... and sunday from noon until 4.admission is just 3 dollars... and children 12 and under are free.you can even get 1 dollar off your admission with a donation to the second harvest food bank.

Proceeds benefit the warner theatre restoration.

Finally... a craigs list prank turns into a generous community effort... effort...austin hermsen says someone put his phone number on a fake craigslist ad.the ad promised he would give away 30 turkeys to families who called .after calls started rolling in ... hermsen says it broke his heart to hear how many people actually needed a turkey.so he and his friends raised more than 13-hundred dollars to buy full thanksgiving meals for 80 needy families.they plan on making it a yearly tradition.

It's been a difficult road and her medical journey is not over yet.but through it all ... she is taking lessons learned and turning them into a business.

Jill mccormick has her story.

There is a new shop in erie ...open this week ... mama mia's bow-tique ... a store operated by maria wells... opening a new business is difficult in and of itself ... but this store is a second chance for this mother of three ... " i dont think anyone who lives a life of horrific medical diagnosis or just someone that received not good new you have a choice in which direction you're going to go" eight and a half years ago ...maria was diagnosed of acute metaobolic kidney disease ... with medullary sponge kidney.

During that time ... maria spent countless days at the cleveland clinic ..

Hoping for a miracle.

Relying on her family to make things as normal as possible for the kids ... 3 " it's difficult but you just gotta move forward and keep looking at the postive and never give up hope"a glimmer of hope coming with a call last december ... the first of two auto transplants 3 " what they actually do is they take out your own organ remove and then they moved my kidneys from the back of my body to the front because the disease won't stop i will continue to make stones for the rest of my life."that first surgery meant a christmas away from her children ... but it was a success.

The second surgery happened this past june.

June.

" my last auto transplant was june 14-th and i lost the kidney in 12 weeks" now maria is hoping for a double transplant ... looking to her family first for a match ... she needs two kidneys for a shot at extending her life.

Even when maria was away during those long hospital stays ..

She came up with the idea for the boutique."

Stand up living a normal life outside the hospital is a big step for maria this thanksgiving holiday buit its something she couldnt have done if the space hadnt been avilable next to her parents insurance agengy " " " i cant be alone and i cant drive so my parents own the agency next ddoor and my dad and both of my brothers are there..

So for once jim doesn't have to worry about me an he can get abck to work i can run this store and try to give other people hope beileve in miracles and never give up" 3 " the store is symbolic of starting a new life bringing everybody back into her life giving her some distraction and a little break of not being in the hospital"not being in the hospital ... her wish this christmas.
