Tesla Gets Approved To Start Manufacturing In China

China added Tesla to the government list of approved automotive manufacturers.

China’s industry ministry said it gave the company the certificate needed to start production.

According to Reuters, the electric-vehicle maker will build its first overseas manufacturing site in China.

The $2 billion factory will be built in the eastern Chinese city of Shanghai.

The company hopes to produce at least 1,000 Model 3 a week from China, although it is unclear when it will meet year-end production targets.
