Tailgating Fun

That make every game day special, and tailgating and for watch parties as well.

Joining us today is ovie mughelli.

He is a former all-pro fullback for the atlanta falcons and baltimore ravens and a former network tv football analyst.

Welcome to the show, ovie.

Ovie mughelli: hi, thanks for having me, lisa.

Lisa: well, thank you for being here, and let's get right to it.

What did playing in the nfl for almost a decade teach you about throwing a party to watch the game?

Ovie mughelli: well, lisa, it taught me about preparation.

If you don't prepare, then you're not going to win.

And the same thing goes for tailgating.

If you don't prepare for whatever your guests may like and different things that may come up in the party, you're not going to have a great party, and no one wants to have an average, mediocre party.

If you're going to do it, you want to do it right.

Lisa: absolutely.

And where do you start for a great tailgating experience?

Give us your tips.

Ovie mughelli: well, my secret weapon, because you always need one, is rio luna organic peppers.

Unlock the power of the peppers to make your favorite foods even more delicious without adding fat or extra calories.

It's available at grocery stores in several different varieties, like diced jalapenos, nacho sliced jalapenos, and the new hot and sweet jalapenos.

I love that because they have diced green chilies in them.

Now, you can make a lot of great recipes with it, but one of my favorite recipes is the sweet and spiced jalapeno pineapple pulled pork with jalapeno ranch slaw, and if your mouth's not watering, you're not listening to me, because that tastes better than it looks, and it looks amazing.

But you can get more recipes at riolunapeppers.com /meals.

Lisa: ovie, i'm listening, i'm listening.

I love it.

And you like to spice things up, i can tell.

Okay, tell us something that is guaranteed to make your game day food very special.

I want to hear this.

Ovie mughelli: oh, absolutely.

You need something special.

Dip is a part of tailgating, period, but the best dip out there is heluva good dip, because it's a hell of a good dip.

It's a delicious, bold-flavored dip that's perfectly rich and creamy.

You can buy heluva good dip in the dairy aisle at your local grocery store.

It comes in seven flavors and it's perfect with your dippable favorites, like chips, veggies, pretzels, and everything else.

You also have a blt flatbread that uses heluva good dip french onion dip, that's amazing.

And for drinks, you've got to have a tipsy tomato bloody mary because that's the best bloody mary out there.

It combines california ripe tomatoes, sriracha sauce, natural flavor from celery, lime, and lemon, and it's the perfect, ready-to- drink bloody mary with alcohol already in it.

Because let's face it, we all love drinking bloody marys, but no one loves to make them.

My wife would rather watch the game with me than going around playing bartender and making bloody marys all day.

And finally, i think that everyone loves football, they love tailgating, but they don't love the mess.

And frankly, there's so much trash out there, you need to know what's trash and what's recyclable.

So the pepsi recycling roadster is stopping at the sporting events across the country to help fans do their part through engaging recycling spot activities and games.

Pepsico recycling believes that small acts can make a big impact.

So at your next tailgate event, recycle bottles, cans, cardboard, plastic, at your nearest pepsico recycling bin.

Lisa: good tips, ovie.

Thank you so much for being here today.

Where can we go for more information on tailgating or game watching party tips?

Ovie mughelli: for more information go to tipsontv.com.

Lisa: thanks again for joining us today.

Ovie mughelli: thank you.

Still ahead... we'll show you a trending halloween costume... that's certainly spicing things up for popeyes..

And: kentucky state police are gearing up for a major event.

It's the gold for gray gala -- we'll tell you how you can help, after the break.
