Fire fatalities down to zero in Bibb County

The Bibb County Fire Department announced a decrease in fire fatalities in Macon.

Firefighters say they had to cut through 30 to 40 logs with chainsaws ... before they could rescue the man.

The macon-bibb fire department reports that fire deaths are decreasing.

41 nbc's rashaad got a chance to speak with the department to find out what's working.

According to the u.s fire administration, in 2018, there were more than 80 fire fatalities reported in georgia.

But that number does not include bibb county.

Today i was able to speak with fire educator jeremy webb, who tells us that in recent years, the number of fire fatalities is decreasing.

The last few years we've had a decrease in fire deaths actually, in 2015 and in macon-bibb we had 15 fire c1 3 b13 deaths, in 2016 we had 10, 2017 we had 7, in 2018 last year we actually had zero.

In connection with fire prevention month, webb says the fire department continues
