Kamala Harris Introduces New Education Bill

Sen.

Kamala Harris introduced a bill to have school extend programming for students until 6 p.m.

The “Family Friendly Schools Act” would distribute up to $5 million in funding to 500 elementary schools over five years.

It would provide “enrichment” activities to students that extend past normal school hours.

According to the Huffington Post, it would prioritize schools with “the greatest need.” Harris hopes it will help parents who are forced to find childcare while they work.
