Farage says Brexit Party candidates were stood down 'to stop Lib Dems getting in'

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage says his party's decision not to field candidates in constituencies with Conservative MPs was motivated by his fear that doing so would help Liberal Democrats get elected.

In Hartlepool on Monday he told supporters that the party would not stand in 317 seats.

The move is a significant boost for Boris Johnson amid warnings by Conservative ministers that they risked splitting the Brexit vote.
