Disney+ slammed with technical glitches on launch day

BURBANK, CALIFORNIA — Disney launched its much anticipated online streaming service Disney+ on Tuesday in selected areas, only to be immediately slammed by technical glitches.

BBC reports that social media was flooded with people complaining about problems accessing the site, while other users shared screenshots of Disney-themed error messages.

According to glitch-tracker Down Detector, there were only 8,300 complaints about Disney+ issues over a 15-minute period starting at 9 a.m.

Eastern Standard Time.

Reuters reported that some people trying to get on Disney+ were instead treated to a Mickey Mouse on a blue screen, with a message telling them to exit the app and try again.

According to Reuters, other users had trouble locating the Disney+ app in Apple's App Store.

Disney claims that the glitches were caused by excessive demand.

Disney+ hasn't been rolled out worldwide yet.

It's currently only available in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands.

The service costs $7 a month and features about 500 movies and 7,500 TV episodes.

It was designed to take on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Disney said it was "working quickly" to fix all the glitches.

Until then...Netflix anyone?
