Brazil’s Deforestation Increases 30 Percent From 2018

Development, most of it illegal, destroyed more than 9700 square kilometers of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest.

A government estimate shows that the destruction has increased 30 percent from the previous year.

According to Science magazine, it currently is the highest rate of deforestation since 2007-08.

Many scientists and environmentalists blame the rise in deforestation on President Jair Bolsonaro.
