As far as the discussion surrounding charlie bibb ... not being sworn in last night... mayor toms says that was out of his control.
The amount of classes bibb county high school students can take, are changing.

As 41nbc's tanya modersitzki learned... the move is to help teachers.
Tanya... on average ..
A bibb county high school student has four common classes ..
And three electives on their schedule.
But by eliminating a period ..
Teachers say it will push kids to focus and improve grades.
(:01) (:15) (1:03) "im currently teaching over 150 students which is very difficult to give them individual attention in a 50 minute class period i only have 50 min to prep."
On a day-to-day basis ..
Science teacher dr. susan george has six class periods with little time to prepare.
Resulting in her doing work beyond her classroom walls.
"i stay after i mean you find a way to get it done you have to work on your own a lot of times you have to work outside of school hours a lot."
Beginning next school year ..
Bibb county schools are going from seven class periods to six.
" this will do a ton to eleviate a lot of stress on teachers and allow us to be able to work in an 8 hour day and be rpoductive i think it will do a lot for mental health and do a lot for burn out" students will keep their four core class..but will only take two electives instead of three.
"it gives more time for teachers to teach those core classes" superintendent dr. curtis jones c1 3 b13 says the change allows for quality education..
"i think we're going to see teachers better dr. jones says students need 24 credits to graduate.
