Wild leopard enters village in east India and injures many before escaping

On December 31, 2019, a wild leopard entered a village in east India and attacked several villagers trying to repel it, before escaping back into the wild.

Reportedly the big cat entered Mohlitola village in Sahebganj district, Jharkhand at around 5:00 am and hid in one of the houses.

When the members of the family inside found the leopard they ran away from their home and raised the alarm, with rescue authorities being contacted immediately.

However, before the rescue team arrived the villagers locked the leopard in the room it was discovered in.

When the rescue team tried to catch the predator with the help of the villagers, it escaped dramatically, injuring at least 7 villagers and fleeing onto the rooftops of nearby buildings.

Eventually it fled into the jungle, eluding capture entirely.

The animal is still on the loose and the forest department for the area are continuing their efforts to track it down.
