Three people were killed including a two-year-old boy and more injured after a gunman opened fire at a shopping mall in Thailand on Thursday evening (January 9).

The masked man burst into the Robinson store in Lopburi, 150km north of Bangkok, at around 9pm local time.

He is said to have shot dead a security guard followed by a young woman working at gold store before a two-year-old boy was shot.

The two staff died at the scene and the girl died later at hospital.

At least five others - including one tourist, whose nationality was unknown at the time of writing - were seriously injured and rushed to hospital.

Distressing CCTV footage shows the gunman - using a large silencer - leap onto the glass counter of a gold store.

The most graphic scenes have been edited out by Newsflare.

He opened fire and was seen fleeing on a motorcycle before police arrived on the scene.

He is believed to have robbed a gold store inside the mall and left with valuables.

Pictures from the mall shows large numbers of people wounded in pools of blood.

Police Colonel Kritsana Pattanacharoen said the police know the man identity and are searching for him.

He said: "The police are now patrolling all areas and are looking for the man.

Witnessed have described his appearance and we know his identity.

"Moreover, we sent the force to the scene inspecting evidence including the fingerprints.

"We will take this extremely seriously and if the gunman resists the arrest the police will shoot him without hesitation."
